Bali is a land rich in cultural heritage. We all may have known that Balinese dancing is one of famous art products of Bali, but one that should not be missed is the traditional songs and musical arts. Nowadays, Balinese musical art is not about those that have been passed by the ancestors, but also about the new works that continued to appear, both classic and contemporary.

There is a slight difference between the essence of the song and musical arts. In singing, we discussed the beauty of tone and rhythm of the artists displayed through the songs sung. While by musical arts, we are talking about how musical instrument played to create harmony.

In Bali there are many different types of song structures with different functions. Balinese people used to distinguish art song into four groups. They are Gegendingan, Macapat songs (Sekar Alit), Kekidungan (Sekar Madya), and Kakawin / Wirama (Sekar Agung).
