Hakkoda-san of Mount Hakkoda is a range of dormant volcanoes situated in the central part of Aomori. The volcanoes consist of Kita Hakkoda, with the main peak, O-dake, and Minami Hakkoda, with the main peak, Kushi-ga-mine. This place is covered with swamps and marshes, the left over from volcanic eruptions, and virgin forest and alpine flora which show off the beauty of the four seasons. There are many varieties of plants here, so visitors can enjoy the changes as the altitude increases through the sub-alpine and alpine zones.

There is a ropeway, on which you can enjoy the views of woodlands for 10 minutes, as well as other walkways where you can go for walks. Beside, there are many other things to see in Mt. Hakkoda-san, for example: the Jo-ga-kura Mountain Stream and the Jo-ga-kura-ohashi Bridge.
